Measure the merchandise after it is folded to the presentation standard, including tissue, insert, tags and any accessory. The smallest format fits compact folded items, while 17 by 11 by 2.5-inch and 19 by 12 by 3-inch boxes provide more area and depth. The 24 by 14 by 4-inch kraft box accommodates larger folded products.

Avoid selecting a box so shallow that the lid compresses the garment or so large that the product slides and loses its fold. Test the highest expected fabric thickness and any multi-piece set. Standardize the fold pattern with the carton size so associates can pack consistently.

Kraft and white boxes offer different presentation backgrounds. Tissue can add separation and help maintain the fold, but it does not prevent all abrasion, moisture or impact. Check for color transfer and surface compatibility when packing light fabrics or decorated garments.

Case quantities decrease as many sizes become larger, so forecast from the exact box and garment program. Keep components clean and dry in storage and protect formed boxes from crushing.
