Heavy-Duty Corrugated Boxes for Demanding Shipping & Storage

Heavy-duty corrugated boxes provide stronger board constructions for higher-weight, industrial, warehouse, freight, and demanding distribution applications.

How to Choose

1. Choose dimensions that fit the protected product and interior materials.

2. Estimate the completed package weight rather than product weight alone.

3. Consider stacking, handling, palletization, and shipment method.

4. Use ECT and wall construction as package-design inputs, not simple universal weight limits.

Choosing Heavy-Duty Corrugated Boxes

Heavy-duty cartons are appropriate when product weight, stacking, handling, or distribution conditions exceed what a standard shipping box is intended to manage. Wall construction and ECT provide useful comparison points, but they do not replace package engineering. Carton dimensions, load distribution, pallet pattern, interior packaging, humidity, and the shipment method can all influence finished box performance. A stronger single-wall option for selected heavier-duty applications.

Multiple double-wall strengths provide additional structure for heavier products and more demanding handling. Selected triple-wall cartons provide the strongest construction in the current heavy-duty family. The assortment includes standard RSC, hand-hole, side-loading, and other heavy-duty configurations. Use the current product table and individual item details to confirm available sizes, materials, quantities, and specifications for the exact item you are considering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does ECT mean?

ECT stands for Edge Crush Test and is one measure used to describe corrugated board's edgewise compression strength.

Does a higher ECT automatically tell me the maximum box weight?

No. Finished package performance also depends on dimensions, board construction, product distribution, stacking, environment, interior packaging, and handling.

What is double-wall corrugated?

Double-wall board uses two fluted mediums and additional liners, creating a thicker corrugated structure than single-wall board.

When should I consider triple-wall?

Triple-wall may be appropriate for very demanding packages, but the correct construction should be based on the complete load and distribution environment.
