VCI paper combines wrapping paper with volatile corrosion inhibitor chemistry. Inside a suitably enclosed package, the inhibitor moves through the air space and adsorbs onto compatible metal surfaces, helping interrupt the electrochemical reactions that cause corrosion. Clean and dry parts before packing. Position the active side as directed and keep the paper close enough for inhibitor molecules to reach exposed metal surfaces. Wrap or enclose the product promptly, minimizing open air exchange. Large volumes, long storage periods, harsh humidity and overseas transit may require additional paper, a VCI film enclosure, desiccant or a stronger barrier system. Confirm compatibility with every metal, coating, process residue and nonmetal component in the package. VCI formulations are not universal, and waxed paper is not a sealed moisture barrier. When a contract names a military or industry specification, verify the exact product, qualification status and required revision rather than relying on a general VCI description.
