Edge Protectors for Pallet Corners, Strapping and Stretch Film

Load edge protectors reinforce vulnerable corners and distribute localized pressure from straps, stretch film and warehouse handling. Packaging HERO offers paperboard protectors in case-packed and skid-lot quantities, plus foam corner protection for a different cushioning need. Select material and purchasing format from the load, not by appearance alone.

Choose the Protector Around the Risk

Paperboard angle protectors sit against two faces of a load. Match both leg dimensions to the corner and choose enough length to cover the pressure area. Short pieces can reinforce localized contact points, while long protectors distribute force over more of the load height. Material caliper is one construction value, not a universal compression or stacking rating.

Foam corners and edge pieces cushion individual products or finished surfaces and should not be treated as direct substitutes for long paperboard angles. Identify whether the main concern is strap cutting, film pressure, carton-edge crushing, corner abrasion or impact before choosing the family.

Test the Complete Secured Load

Position protectors squarely and keep them in place while applying straps or stretch film. Check whether the selected leg size stays seated and whether the strap or film shifts during handling. Edge protection does not correct an unstable pallet pattern, weak carton, unsupported overhang or improper strap tension.

Use case-packed edge protectors for trials or lower-volume demand and skid-lot protectors after the exact dimensions and caliper are validated for higher usage. Test the assembled load through representative storage, forklift and transport conditions.

Load Edge Protectors FAQs

What do paperboard edge protectors do?

They reinforce corners and distribute localized pressure from film, strapping and handling.

How should leg size be chosen?

Both legs should sit properly against the two faces of the load corner.

Does a thicker caliper guarantee a stacking rating?

No. Validate the protector with the cartons, load pattern and handling system.

When should skid quantities be considered?

After the exact protector specification is validated and usage supports pallet-volume purchasing.
