Duct Tape

Industrial duct tape includes 9 and 10 mil rolls, 2- and 3-inch widths, 60-yard lengths and numerous colors. It supports applications where color coding, identification, wrapping or a standard industrial construction matters. Gorilla duct tape is a separate 17 mil group in black, silver or white with 30- and 35-yard rolls.

Thickness is not a complete measure of adhesion, conformability or removal. Surface, temperature, moisture, dwell time and load direction change performance. Review the exact product details and test it on representative material, especially when residue, finish damage or failure would create a costly problem.

Clean and dry the surface, press the tape firmly and avoid bridging gaps that leave the adhesive unsupported. Overlap wraps consistently when bundling. Duct tape can support temporary repairs and moisture-resistant applications when the exact product allows, but it is not a permanent structural repair or a universal substitute for approved HVAC sealing materials.

Do not use duct tape as electrical insulation unless the exact product carries the required electrical rating, and do not infer weather or temperature performance from color. The underlying repair, joint or package must still be suitable for the expected service. Inspect temporary applications and replace them when wear or exposure affects the bond.
