Steel Strapping
Wholesale Strapping & Equipment
A strapping program combines the strap with the equipment and protection needed to apply it correctly. Choices include steel, polypropylene, polyester and polyester cord strapping, plus tensioners, sealers, buckles, seals, kits, dispenser carts and strap guards. Material, width, thickness, break strength, core, joint and load geometry must work together. Steel is available in regular-duty and high-tensile constructions for compatible industrial loads. Polypropylene provides a lightweight option for hand and machine applications. Polyester offers a nonmetallic option with different tension-retention behavior, while cord strapping can conform to selected irregular loads. None is a universal substitute for another. Evaluate load weight, settling, sharp edges, compression sensitivity, travel distance and storage environment. Published break strength belongs to an individual strap specification; it is not the allowable load for the finished package. Joint efficiency, application tension and the number and placement of straps also affect the result. Confirm strap width and thickness with the tensioner, sealer, cutter, seal or buckle. Machine strapping also requires the correct coil core and material for the equipment model and settings. Use a dispenser that controls the coil safely and edge protection where tension could cut or crush the load. Strapping stores energy under tension. Train operators, use suitable protective equipment, keep people out of the recoil path and follow the tool and strap instructions. Inspect joints and strap placement before movement, and never use strapping as a lifting device unless a specifically engineered system documents that use. No. The complete material, joint, tool and load configuration must be evaluated. No. Match the seal or buckle to the strap material, width, thickness and tool. The core must fit the dispenser or machine designed to feed the strap. Do not do so unless a specifically engineered and documented system permits it. Packaging HERO can help you align strapping material, specifications, tools, joints and load protection.Strapping Materials, Tools, Seals and Load Protection
