Select Thickness by Product and Pack Design

Thin foam works well as an interleaf against scuffs and vibration; thicker foam adds cushion depth and separation. Weight, fragility, surface finish and available carton clearance should drive the choice. Foam is compressible, so the finished pack needs enough space for it to recover and work rather than remaining crushed.

Standard foam should not be assumed to meet ESD, moisture-barrier or food-contact requirements. Choose a documented specialty construction when the product or process calls for one. For repeat shipments, test the foam together with the carton, closure and any void fill.
