Glue applications include several products that solve different assembly needs. Hot-melt sticks and applicators create a dispensed adhesive bond, Glue Dots provide preformed pressure-sensitive adhesive, and 3M Bumpons act as adhered feet, stops or spacers. Choose the function first, then match the exact product to the materials and workflow.

Choose a Bonding or Protection Method

Hot melt is useful when operators need to dispense a bead or dot and can safely work with heated equipment. Glue Dots avoid warm-up and deliver a repeat adhesive footprint. Bumpons are not glue portions for joining two parts; they remain as polyurethane components that separate or cushion a contact point.

Production volume influences format. Repeated hot-melt work depends on applicator melt rate and compatible stick supply. Preformed dots depend on diameter, profile, tack and dispensing format. Bumpons require the correct foot size, shape and placement pattern for the supported object.

Validate the Complete Assembly

Test every product on the actual substrates. Coatings, inks, plastics, texture, dust and moisture can change adhesion. For hot melt, also evaluate material heat sensitivity, open time and set time. For pressure-sensitive products, use consistent application pressure and observe any required dwell.

No adhesive format is automatically removable, residue-free, structural or suitable for every environment. Review Glue Dot formats or glue sticks and applicators when that method fits the work. Establish operator instructions only after the exact configuration passes the intended trial.
