11 Mil Gaffer’s Tape in Standard and Fluorescent Colors

Gaffer’s tape is listed in an 11 mil construction with 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-inch widths and 50- or 60-yard lengths. Standard, muted and fluorescent colors support cable management, stage marking, temporary labeling and compatible production work. Width, color and case quantity vary by exact item.

Choose Width, Length and Visibility

One-inch rolls suit narrow labels or cable runs, while broader widths cover more surface or bundle area. Roll length is not uniform: several standard-color products use 60-yard rolls, while selected fluorescent choices use 50-yard rolls. Confirm dimensions before calculating coverage or replenishment.

Black can reduce visibility on dark stages; bright and fluorescent colors can highlight marks or identify runs. Color aids organization but does not establish glow, reflectivity or a standard safety meaning. Document any color code used by the production team so crews interpret it consistently.

Test the Surface and Removal

Apply to clean, dry, compatible surfaces and press firmly without excessive stretch. For cables, avoid tight wraps that deform insulation and do not place tape where it creates a trip edge. Keep the tape away from energized work unless the exact use and electrical requirements are addressed separately.

Gaffer’s tape is often chosen for temporary production work, but clean removal is not guaranteed on every finish or after every dwell and exposure. Test painted floors, wood, fabric and delicate equipment in an inconspicuous area. Compare industrial duct tape when that construction better fits maintenance or weather-resistant work. Do not treat either as rated electrical tape.
