Strapping Tape

Industrial strapping tape uses reinforced construction and is offered across several narrow and wide formats. Its product rows identify tensile values that differ by item. Poly strapping tape uses a different backing and should be selected from its own width, length and performance information rather than treated as a lighter version of filament tape.

Tensile strength is a laboratory property of the tape, not a permitted bundle weight. Joint overlap, number of wraps, edges, surface, load movement and handling can control failure. Test a representative bundle and use edge protection where narrow tape could cut into the product or where sharp corners could damage the tape.

Select a dispenser that accepts the roll width and core and gives the operator safe control during payout and cutting. Apply tape with consistent tension, keeping hands clear of sharp edges and cutters. Too little tension can leave a loose bundle; too much can crush cartons or concentrate force at corners.

Strapping tape is not the same as plastic or steel strapping and does not automatically replace those systems. For shipping containers, ensure the carton and closure method independently suit the packed contents. Review the finished unit after storage and movement because creep, surface contamination and temperature can change the bond.
