How to Choose

1. Choose length from the bundle diameter. The tie needs enough usable length to wrap the bundle and engage the locking head without excessive tail.

2. Choose tensile strength from the load. Light, standard, heavy-duty, and jumbo ties should be selected from the actual application.

3. Choose material or specialty function. Natural nylon, UV-stabilized nylon, detectable nylon, stainless steel, releasable, and write-on ties solve different problems.

4. Use an installation tool when consistency matters. Cable-tie guns can tension and trim compatible ties more consistently in repetitive work.

Cable Ties Should Be Chosen by Length, Strength & Environment

Cable ties are simple fasteners, but the wrong tie can be too short, too weak, unnecessarily heavy, difficult to remove, or poorly matched to the environment. Outdoor exposure, repeated access, identification, controlled manufacturing, and corrosive conditions can change the material choice.

Do not describe a locking cable tie as impossible to tamper with or a detectable tie as a complete contamination-control solution. Use the tie as one component of the applicable maintenance, quality, security, or process-control program.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose cable-tie length?

Measure the bundle circumference and leave enough length to engage and tension the locking head.

What does tensile strength mean?

It is a product strength rating, but the installed tie and application should still be evaluated.

When should I use a releasable tie?

Use one when the bundle needs repeated access and the exact tie is designed to reopen.

Are UV-stabilized ties the same as natural nylon ties?

No. UV-stabilized black nylon is intended for greater outdoor/UV exposure.
