Non-Reinforced Water Activated Tape

Match tape width to the carton seam and closure pattern. The 1 1/2-inch kraft roll is 500 feet long; the 2-inch kraft and both 3-inch choices are 600 feet. Kraft blends with common brown corrugated, while white can suit white cartons or a contrasting presentation. Confirm rolls per case when planning dispenser stations and storage.

Use this non-reinforced construction only after a representative carton trial shows it is sufficient. Move to reinforced water-activated tape when the chosen specification calls for fiberglass reinforcement. Carton size, packed weight, flap tension, board surface and distribution conditions all affect closure.

A compatible dispenser must wet the adhesive evenly across the tape. Too little water can leave dry areas; excessive water can make the paper difficult to handle. Apply the cut strip promptly, center it over the seam and press it onto both major flaps. Keep carton surfaces free of dust, oil and excessive moisture.

Water-activated tape bonds differently from pressure-sensitive carton tape and should not be substituted without testing. A fiber-tearing removal pattern can make opening more visible, but the tape does not make a package tamper-proof. Coated or unusual corrugated surfaces require particular attention because surface treatments can change the bond.
