Flat Poly Bags

The open-top format gives the packer control over the closure. Compatible bags can be heat sealed for a finished edge or closed with tape, ties, staples or another method appropriate for the contents and process. That flexibility makes flat bags useful for both manual pack-out and standardized production work.

Select width at the product's widest point and length from the sealed bottom through the planned closure area. Stacked or irregular products create depth even when they appear flat; include that depth instead of forcing the film around the product. A closer fit reduces excess material, but the bag should load without stretching.

Choose the gauge for the combination of product weight, edge profile and handling. A thicker bag can improve puncture and tear resistance, but pointed hardware may still need caps, wrapping or another barrier.

Flat polyethylene bags help keep suitable contents organized and separated from routine dirt and handling. They do not provide cushioning, rigid support or a universal moisture barrier once the package, closure and handling environment are considered.
