Foam Corner and Edge Protection for Defined Impact Zones

Molded expanded-polystyrene protectors place firm cushioning where products most often need spacing from the outer carton. Corner pieces support multiple faces at once, while edge channels extend protection along a longer side.

Corners and Edges Solve Different Fit Problems

Protector style Coverage Best suited to
Molded corner Three adjoining faces at a product corner Frames, equipment and rectangular products needing corner spacing
Edge protector A continuous section along one edge Panels, doors, signs and long product sides

Fit the Cavity Before Choosing the Carton

Match the internal protector geometry to the product corner or edge. An undersized cavity can create concentrated pressure or fail to seat fully; an oversized cavity can shift during handling. Protector thickness determines the spacing between the product and carton, so include the installed protectors when calculating the required box dimensions. Check that every protector remains seated while the product is loaded into the carton.

Support corresponding corners and edges consistently so the product remains centered. The carton should close without crushing the protectors, and open areas may still require blocking or surface protection. Test the complete pack because product weight, drop orientation and protector placement all affect performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose corner pieces or edge protectors?

Use corners for localized three-face protection and edge channels for longer continuous sides.

How tight should a foam corner fit?

It should seat securely without forcing, distorting or concentrating pressure on the product.

Do protector dimensions affect box size?

Yes. Measure the product with all protectors installed before selecting the carton.

Do corners eliminate the need for other cushioning?

Not always. Open faces, fragile surfaces or remaining voids may need additional protection.
