Heat shrink tubing is continuous clear film with closed sides and open ends. Packers cut the required length, load the product, seal the ends and apply controlled heat. The format is especially useful for products that share a similar cross-section but vary in length. Tubing is measured flat, while the product occupies three-dimensional space. Measure the widest and deepest points and allow enough clearance for easy loading before shrinking. Too little room can make insertion difficult or overstress the side folds; too much can leave excess film that gathers unevenly. Cut the tubing long enough to cover the product and leave clean sealing areas at both ends. Product length alone is not the cut length. Irregular ends, sharp corners or protrusions may require extra clearance, edge protection or a different package. Use a sealer compatible with the tubing and keep both end seals flat, clean and continuous. After sealing, apply heat evenly according to the film instructions. Concentrated heat can create holes or weak spots, while insufficient or uneven heat can leave wrinkles and loose sections. Tubing can reduce the number of preformed bag lengths stocked, but it adds cutting and sealing labor to every package. For repeated standard sizes, compare Shrink Bags; for variable lengths, a well-arranged tubing station may be more efficient. Cut the tubing, load the product, seal the open ends and apply controlled heat. Measure the product's complete cross-section and add enough clearance for loading before shrink. A cut section normally needs both open ends sealed to form a closed package. Preformed bags may be faster when the same product sizes are packed repeatedly. We can help match tubing width, gauge, sealer and heat method to the product.Heat Shrink Tubing for Custom-Length Packages
