Honeycomb Cardboard Sheets for Blocking and Load Distribution
Honeycomb cardboard sheets are thick paper-based panels made with a cellular core between facing materials. Standard pallet-sized and larger panels are available in multiple thicknesses. They can support blocking, layering, void management and load distribution when properly supported, but thickness or panel weight alone does not define safe capacity.
Choose Thickness From the Application
Identify whether the panel will separate pallet layers, protect a broad face, fill a controlled space or support a fixture. Measure length, width and required thickness after accounting for compression and clearance. A thicker honeycomb panel may provide greater separation or stiffness, but flute orientation, facing condition, unsupported span and point loading all influence actual performance.
For thinner general-purpose pallet sheets and liners, compare corrugated sheets. For dense non-fluted backing and stiffening, review chipboard sheets. These materials should not be substituted solely because the outside footprint matches.
Support the Panel and Protect Its Edges
Place the panel on a flat, continuous support whenever possible and distribute the load across its surface. Narrow feet, sharp corners and irregular objects can crush or puncture a cellular panel. Add load spreaders, caps or other protective components when concentrated contact cannot be avoided. Keep cut or exposed edges away from moisture and abrasion.
Test representative completed loads for compression, shifting, vibration and storage duration. Paper honeycomb can be sensitive to water, high humidity and damage at the faces or edges. It does not provide a universal pallet capacity, stack height, outdoor-use rating or food-contact claim. Inspect every panel before reuse and remove pieces that are crushed, wet, delaminated or punctured.
