Long Poly Mailers for Flexible Elongated Products

Long poly mailers extend a flexible shipping bag around narrow, elongated products such as compatible textiles, wallpaper and soft components. They reduce the excess width of a general-purpose bag while providing added length. Use them only when the item can tolerate flexing and does not require the structural protection of a tube or box.

Measure the Protected Bundle, Not the Loose Product

Measure length and circumference after rolling, folding or bundling the item as it will actually ship. Listed mailer dimensions are outside measurements, so allow for thickness and a flat closure area. Too little width can stress seams, while excessive length can leave a loose tail that catches during handling.

Long poly mailers are appropriate for containment, not shape control. Compare mailing tubes for documents, rods or other elongated products that need resistance to folding or crushing. Select the package from the damage risk rather than length alone.

Control Puncture and Leverage Along the Length

Cover corners, cut ends and hardware that could puncture the film. Very long contents can create leverage against the bottom seam or closure when lifted from one end. Support the package during packing and handling, and verify that the item cannot slide forcefully into either end.

Keep the adhesive area clean, dry and free of tension. A long sealed bag is not automatically waterproof or tamper-evident. Measure the completed package for carrier rules and test representative shipments, especially when the product is heavy, unusually long or likely to encounter conveyor gaps.
