Poly Bags, Shrink Film and Plastic Sealing Supplies

Poly packaging includes flat and gusseted bags, reclosable formats, tubing, specialty protective films, shrink materials and sealing equipment. These products solve different containment, capacity, barrier, presentation and workstation needs. Begin with the product and process, then select film type, dimensions, gauge, closure and equipment as one system.

Choose the Package Family Before the Gauge

Use poly bags by mil strength when a flat bag and documented thickness fit the product. Gusseted bags add depth, reclosable bags support repeated access and tubing creates custom lengths. Anti-static, VCI, barrier and food-contact uses require the exact documented material rather than a general poly bag.

Shrink film changes shape with controlled heat and must match the product, equipment and operating window. It is not interchangeable with stretch film, which relies on elastic containment rather than heat shrinking. Confirm ventilation, sealing and temperature requirements before production.

Treat Film, Closure and Equipment as a System

Measure the product in all relevant dimensions and account for gussets, seals and drawdown. Film gauge alone does not establish capacity. Product edges, bag size, seam quality, temperature, dwell time and handling determine whether the package performs as intended.

Select heat sealers, bag tapers, tape or ties according to the material and throughput. Guard hot surfaces and cutting components, train operators and validate the finished seal. Confirm suffocation-warning, food-contact, static-control, corrosion and regulatory requirements for the exact application.

Poly Packaging Format Guide

Format Useful When Verify
Flat or gusseted bags Products need containment with selected capacity Size, gauge, edges and closure
Reclosable or specialty bags Repeated access or a documented property is required Seal design and claim scope
Tubing Product lengths vary while width remains consistent Cut length, end seals and equipment
Shrink film A heat-applied conforming package fits the process Film type, temperature, ventilation and safety

Poly Bags & Shrink Films FAQs

How should I choose poly-bag gauge?

Use product weight, edges, dimensions, handling and closure rather than gauge alone.

When is poly tubing useful?

It creates different bag lengths from one tubing width when both ends can be sealed appropriately.

Is shrink film the same as stretch film?

No. Shrink film responds to controlled heat, while stretch film relies on elastic tension.

Can any poly bag be used for food or static-sensitive products?

No. Verify the exact documented material and application requirements.
