3M™ Secure Tape and Strips for Visible Opening Evidence

3M secure tape products are designed to leave a visible message when a seal is removed or repositioned. Serialized tape and security strips can also connect each sealed package with an inspection, packing or chain-of-custody record.

Build the Indicator Into the Control Process

Select a message style and color that will be easy to inspect against the package surface. Record consecutive numbers when traceability matters, and define who applies, records and verifies each seal. A serialized strip has limited value if numbers are not connected to a shipment or if receiving personnel do not know what to check.

Apply to clean, dry, compatible surfaces with firm pressure and allow the specified dwell before testing. Corrugated fiber, coatings, plastics, temperature and contamination can change adhesive transfer and message visibility. Trial the exact product on the actual package because a strong visual result on one surface may be less distinct on another.

Tamper-indicating tape provides evidence of disturbance; it does not physically prevent access or prove who opened a package. Pair it with sound carton closure, access controls, documented inspection and escalation procedures.
