Side Loading Boxes

This format can simplify packing frames, panels, assembled items and other products that are awkward to lower into a top-opening carton. Measure the fully protected item and include face pads, edge guards and corner protection. Allow enough clearance to slide the item without scraping, but limit open space that permits movement.

For shallow products that can be loaded comfortably from the top, compare flat corrugated boxes. The better orientation is the one that supports safe handling, reliable closure and consistent protection—not simply the box with the closest raw dimensions.

Full-overlap panels place more corrugated across the broad face than standard meeting flaps, which can add coverage and reinforcement. Easy-seal or self-locking features can change assembly and closure steps. Confirm the exact style and whether tape, staples or another approved method is still required for shipment.

Select board construction from packed weight, panel span and distribution demands. A full-overlap design or double-wall board does not create a universal weight or stacking rating. Test the closed package in its shipping orientation and check wide panels for flexing, puncture exposure and concentrated pressure from the product.
