The string-and-button mechanism keeps its closing components attached to the box and can be opened repeatedly. It is useful when records must be reviewed and returned to storage without consuming tape each time. Leave enough shelf clearance to release the string and open the overlapping flaps without damaging them or disturbing adjacent boxes.

Match letter or legal format to the exact folder orientation, then assemble the bottom squarely and keep files below the flap path. Wrap the string snugly enough to hold the top closed without pulling excessively on the eyelets. Do not lift or carry the loaded box by the string, buttons or top flaps.

Label contents and retention details before placing the box into storage. The reclosable mechanism is not a lock and does not indicate whether someone has opened the container. Corrugated construction is not inherently archival, waterproof or fire-resistant.
