Transportation Packing List Envelopes

Select the envelope by the paperwork it will carry—not simply by package size. A pouch printed for export documents serves a different receiving cue than one identifying a certificate of compliance, certificate of analysis or hazardous-waste paperwork. When several documents travel together, choose wording that accurately represents the complete packet.

Full-face printing makes the message highly visible. Panel printing leaves more of the enclosed document exposed for quick visual checks. Color can help a facility distinguish document streams, but it should support—not replace—the actual wording and internal shipping procedure.

The printed envelope identifies and protects paperwork. It does not create a certificate, verify an analysis, classify a material, authorize an export or establish that a shipment complies with transportation or hazardous-material requirements.

Measure the prepared packet after folding, including every certificate, manifest or supporting page. Choose dimensions that allow easy insertion without forcing the documents against the edges or closure.

Place the pouch on a clean, dry area that remains accessible through normal handling. Keep it clear of shipping labels, barcodes, required markings, carton seams and closure tape. Apply even pressure across the adhesive and test difficult surfaces such as coated, dusty, cold or heavily recycled corrugated.
