Water Activated Tape Dispensers
Water-activated tape uses a dry adhesive that becomes tacky when properly moistened and is applied to compatible corrugated cartons. Packaging HERO organizes the selection into non-reinforced paper tape, reinforced grades, Central-brand reinforced tape and dispensing equipment. Choose the tape and dispenser as one application system. Non-reinforced products use kraft-paper backing without fiber reinforcement and are offered in kraft and white. Reinforced tapes add fiberglass reinforcement and include different grades, roll lengths, colors and selected printed messages. Central-brand options provide specific reinforced grades with their own carton recommendations. Use the recommendation attached to the exact tape as a starting point, not a guarantee for every carton. Packed weight, board construction, flap tension, recycled content, dust, coatings, humidity and distribution conditions all influence closure. Printed wording such as Fragile, Stop or Warning communicates a message but does not guarantee special handling. The adhesive needs controlled moisture across the full tape width. Too little water can leave dry areas, while excessive water can weaken the backing or create handling problems. Select a manual or powered dispenser that accepts the tape width and roll dimensions, then maintain the water system and cutting components according to its instructions. Apply the wetted tape promptly to clean, compatible corrugated and press it across the center seam and onto both major flaps. Validate tape length, wetting, pressure and bond with representative packed cartons. Water-activated tape is not interchangeable with pressure-sensitive tape, and equipment safety procedures are required around wetting, feeding and cutting mechanisms. Controlled moisture activates the dry adhesive before application to compatible corrugated. Reinforced tape adds fibers; non-reinforced tape uses paper backing without that reinforcement. No. Confirm tape width, roll dimensions, construction and the dispenser's specifications. No. They communicate instructions but do not guarantee carrier or warehouse handling.
