Flat Corrugated Boxes for Shallow Products and Printed Materials

Flat corrugated boxes combine a broad length-and-width footprint with a relatively shallow depth. They suit frames, books, catalogs, apparel, components and other low-profile items that load conveniently from the top. Choose dimensions after adding the pads, sleeves and cushioning needed to protect faces, corners and edges.

Protect the Broad Faces and Edges

Measure the product at its widest points and include corner blocks, pads or wraps in the packed dimensions. Provide enough clearance for loading without allowing the item to slide across the broad panels. Thin products may need rigid pads or separation to resist bending, puncture and abrasion even when the carton fits closely.

When a wide or heavy item is difficult to lower into a top-opening carton, compare side-loading full-overlap boxes. Loading direction can affect labor, product damage and closure consistency as much as the dimensional fit.

Check Depth, Closure and Stacking Together

Set depth from the protected product stack and do not compress the contents simply to reach a smaller box. Confirm that the top and bottom flaps meet correctly and that tape has clean, continuous surfaces for adhesion. Large flat panels may flex when unsupported, especially with concentrated or uneven loads.

The stock flat-box selection uses single-wall RSC construction, but listed strength is not a complete safe-load or stacking guarantee. Evaluate packed weight, panel span, moisture, pallet pattern and carrier handling. For sensitive flat items, test the complete package in its expected shipping orientation.
