Bag tapers wrap a narrow band of compatible tape around a gathered bag neck in one quick motion. They are useful for repetitive packing of suitable parts, produce and other products that need simple containment without the heat, cycle time or permanent seam of a heat sealer. The product must leave enough unused bag length to gather into the taper throat. A standard throat fits smaller necks; a wide-neck model accommodates a bulkier gathered bundle. Overfilled bags, thick film or stiff gussets may not compress cleanly, so test the actual bag rather than choosing only from product dimensions. Models with an integrated trimmer can remove excess film above the taped neck for a neater package. Keep fingers clear of the cutting area and follow the equipment instructions for loading tape and operating the blade. Use the Poly Bag Tape width and roll configuration specified for the taper. Tape adhesive, bag film, neck size and storage environment all affect closure performance. This method is not automatically leakproof, tamper-evident or appropriate for heavy contents.
